Second Annual War at the Shore Dodgeball Tournament

The East Dover Volunteer Fire Company #4 announces our annual war at the shore, a double elimination, team dodge ball benefit tournament to be held Saturday April 10, 2010 at the Toms River High School East Gymnasium located on Raider Way, Toms River, NJ.

Co-ed adult teams ages 16 and up will play from 5:00pm to ???, Team sign in, confirmation, and registration will be held beginning at 4:00PM, Team Captains meeting will be held at 4:30pm, with the balls flying at 5:00pm.

The first one hundred (100) teams will compete.

Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers as well as the Best Team Uniform.

The Double Elimination Tournament will cost $100.00 per 7 person team. Referees will be officiating.

The tournament is open to the public for teams to compete, and for spectators as well.

Admission for spectators will be $5.00 per person, children twelve and under are free. refreshments will be available.

Members on standby for storm

Members standby at the fire station for the duration of the storm on the weekend of 12/20/2009. Members staffed Engine 2811, Brush 2829, and Brush 2819 to answer fire and ems calls during the storm.

2865 Responds as fast team twice during the weekend

2865 and crew responded to two working structure fires to act as the FAST team for stations 25 & 26. One fire occurred on Friday the 13th on Indian Hill Rd and the other occurred on Sunday the 15th on Lowell Ave.

2865 Responds to General Alarm Structure Fire

Shortly after 8AM on Sunday November 1st, Toms River Fire Companies No. 1 & 2 were dispatched to River Bend Dr. Chief 2500 requested a general alarm and upon arrival advised he had a heavily involved garage with extension to the attached 2.5 story dwelling. The fire started in the garage area and is currently under investigation. The Toms River Fire Companies 1 & 2, East Dover Fire company, Silverton Fire Company, Pleasant Plains Fire Company, and Island Heights Fire Company responded in addition to the Toms River Police & EMS.

Engine 2801 assists at Station 25's annual Halloween Parade

Engine 2801 and crew spent the Halloween evening in downtown Toms River assisting with the Toms River Fire Company No 1's annual Halloween Parade. Engine 2801 provided lighting for the judging area of the parade route.

The Toms River Fire Companies No. 1 and 2 were dispatched for a possible structure fire just before 2:00 PM on Tuesday October 27th, 2009. Chief 2600, was quick to respond and upon arrival established command and advised that he had smoke showing from a 2.5 story wood framed dwelling. Chief 2600 advised that he had a working fire in a bedroom, located in the basement of the dwelling. He then requested Station 28 for a FAST team. 2865 responded.

Working Fire in a Duplex

Shortly before 6:00 AM on Saturday August 29, the East Dover Fire Company was alerted to a possible structure fire located on Garfield Ave, in the Gilford Park section of the township. Upon arrival, Captain 2820 found fire showing from a window and heavy smoke throughout a residential duplex. 2820 then requested mutual aid from the Island Heights Fire company, Station 53. The first due Engine, 2811, performed an interior attack on the fire with a 1.75" line and quickly brought the fire under control. Additional responding units were Engine 5311, Engine 2801, Engine 5301, Ladder 2865, Rescue 2807, Chief 5300, Chief 2800, and Asst Chief 2810. The additional companies performed ventilation and overhaul. Despite pouring rains the fire was quickly brought under control. 1 civilian was injured, suffering from burns.
