On February 15, 2014 at 1:16 am The Toms River Police Department Dispatch Center received a call from a passing motorist that there was a home on fire. Police units responded to 499 Lakehurst Road to find flames shooting out from the front porch area of the home. As they approached the residence in anticipation of checking for potential victims they located an open side door however the fire was already out of control and the officers were driven back. Toms River Fire Companies #1 and #2 as well as East Dover Fire Company responded to battle the blaze. At 2:12 am the fire was determined to be under control. A search of the home determined that it was vacant at the time of the fire. There were no injuries reported in this incident.

At 1:30am on Saturday February 8th, 2014 the East Dover Fire Company and the Silverton Fire Company were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment in the area of Yellowbank Rd and Vaughn Ave. Lieutenant 2830 was the first arriving fire officer and found a car a short distance into the woods, standing vertical on its front bumper with the roof against a large tree. Toms River Fire Company No.2 was also dispatched on the special request for Heavy Rescue 2624. Members from Silverton Fire Company Heavy Rescue 2917 and East Dover Engine 2811 quickly worked to extricate the surviving occupant of the vehicle under the direct guidance of Chief 2900 acting as the Operations Section leader. East Dover Fire Company Engine 2801 responded to St Justins Church to setup a MedEvac landing zone for the patient.
